Type of Project: Adaptive Re-Use/Renovations
Willingboro Township acquired the old John F. Kennedy High School from The Willingboro Township Board of Education in 1999 and elected to transform it into a complete community center. Dr. Roya Taheri was the Project Manager for this facility while at Gibson Tarquini Group, the selected architect by the township.
The center would serve every population in the Township, from youth programs to senior citizen programs. The Board of Education would have their offices in the newly renovated facility, as would the Township Administration creating a single location for the Township’s most important administrative functions. A complete health club and recreation department facilities would be housed at The Kennedy Center as well. The design implies the tree of life which is inspired by the nurturing character of a community center.
